HubSpot and MailChimp are two of the most popular marketing software available to promote your business & various features to help to grow your organization

HubSpot and MailChimp are two of the most commonly used marketing software available to promote and help grow your business. We’re sure you’re familiar with these two amazing products.

They are vital to gain and reach out to more customers, each of them is targeted to help small and developing businesses grow. Both HubSpot and MailChimp offer a variety of services that can help you manage and grow your campaign in certain ways.

Now you might be wondering which software is better and which one you should use. We will be focusing on the differences and features of each software, comparing them, and listing which one is better to use for you and your specific business.

HubSpot has many advanced features like their content management system that can help you grow your business and if you can utilize these features, you will find HubSpot to be the better choice. However, MailChimp is easier to use compared to HubSpot, it also features a free plan that allows your campaign to send 10,000 emails to up to 2,000 people per month.

User-Friendly Capabilities

While HubSpot is not difficult to use, MailChimp is the easier software to learn and start using. It is very easy to navigate the site and find what you’re looking for, essentially it’s very intuitive and well designed for any level of marketing expertise. The tools provided are also easy to use with simple drag-and-drop features. Plus, the overall look of MailChimp is modern and appealing to the eye!

HubSpot might not be as easy to use like MailChimp, but it is still simple enough that a complete beginner can still navigate through the software and tools provided.

Since HubSpot has a lot more features than MailChimp, it might look more complex at first, but all the features are clearly labeled and are not very difficult to use, it just takes a bit of time to get used too!

Design & Flexibility

HubSpot offers a very easy and simple surface to work on when it comes to the editor. There are many designs to choose and edit from which can give you a lot of flexibility and help you customize your template any way you want.

MailChimp gives you a selection of templates to choose from, all organized neatly in categories you can navigate through. If you want to create your own template from scratch, you can import your HTML/CSS code through a .zip file or a URL.

Unlike MailChimp, however, HubSpot allows you to create your template from scratch without needing any HTML code. You can simply group, drag, transform, or edit any object using the editor interface provided.

Email Marketing Features

Both HubSpot and MailChimp excel at email marketing, each having various features to help grow a business.

They both offer autoresponders, automation, mobile-responsive emails, and A/B testing emails which is a helpful tool that allows you to send two versions of an email, each with a changed element in them, usually a different Call-To-Action. These A/B emails are sent to a small number of people to see the initial response and collect data. This gives you information on how to pick a subject or CTA which will be very useful for finding more leads and potential customers.

Hubspot offers a few more email marketing features such as creating invoices and a template developer marketplace that allows you to buy custom-made templates.

Registration Forms

Registration forms are crucial to getting customers and leads. Anyone that fills out a form will be added to a CRM list that saves the customer’s information and allows you to manage your relations at ease. You can set reminders, send promotions, or even send them personal emails.

This feature is available in both HubSpot and MailChimp. The registration forms on either software are very customizable and easy to use with simple drag-and-drop questions and fields that can be easily customized.

However, HubSpot has a smart forms feature that is available with their upgraded plans which provides adaptable questions to each visitor on your website as well as progressive profiling which keeps track of returning visitors and returning them to where they left off on the registration form, helping you score more leads.

Spam & Design Testing

Email testing is important to ensure that your email’s design is exactly how you want it to look as well as help you identify emails that get flagged as spam.

MailChimp does offer a third-party tool that allows you to preview your email on different devices which can help you view the design as a customer would. They also mention spam filters here too!

Unfortunately, HubSpot doesn’t seem to offer a spam testing feature. It is usually better to use another application or software to spam and design test your emails to make sure everything is as you want it before sending it.

Reporting & Analytics

It is very important to access reports of all kinds in order to see how your emails are doing, how much they’re generating, and much more.

HubSpot’s reports hold enough data to answer almost any question. You can access all reports from any of HubSpot’s features which can give you vital information for your business.

MailChimp also offers reports that include everything you need to know about your emails. Some of the many reports MailChimp has to offer is allowing you to see how many emails were opened, how many were opened on each provider, social media reports, as well as what products were bought through that specific email.

Both MailChimp and HubSpot generate great reports that provide data for anything within the software.

Deliverability: HubSpot or MailChimp

Every Email Marketing Company wants their emails to deliver successfully. An email is considered delivered when it reaches the intended person’s inbox.

Both HubSpot and MailChimp try to focus on the deliverability of their emails and make sure most of their emails get delivered to the customer’s inbox folder rather than get flagged as spam.

HubSpot’s email deliverability rate is higher than MailChimp’s. They also provide tools that can help get your emails delivered to the inbox folder rather than get flagged as spam. You can change the frequency at which you send emails to a certain customer, or send more emails to customers that tend to frequently open previous ones.

Integrations & Extras

Both HubSpot and MailChimp have over 1000 integrations. HubSpot does offer more overall integrations though which makes it more reliable.

HubSpot also offers a lot more features that MailChimp doesn’t such as SMS marketing, event management, Bulk Social Media Posting, a mobile app, Social CRM, and that’s just to name a few.

24/7 support is available for both software which can allow you to solve any problem at any time. HubSpot’s customer support helps you out with your business, gives advice, and can offer help with any problems you might encounter.

You can talk and discuss your business plans and strategies with HubSpot’s customer support while they try to help you and guide you through it every step of the way.

MailChimp’s customer support might be a bit slow at times and straight to the point or they might only answer questions about their software, which is fine, but it’s not as helpful and pleasant to interact with as HubSpot.

Pricing Options

MailChimp offers a free plan which allows you to send up to 2,000 subscribers 10,000 emails, which is a very generous plan considering it’s free. HubSpot does not offer a free plan but it does offer a demo that allows you to try the software for a limited period of time.

MailChimp’s prices are miles and miles cheaper than HubSpot’s, with their most expensive plan being 300$ a month.

HubSpot’s Professional and Enterprise edition requires an annual contract which is a big deal if you’re not sure about the software. Their most expensive plan costs $3245.95 which is incredibly pricey. This plan does not include any add-ons and premium services which can raise the total price by a massive amount, making HubSpot a very pricey software, especially when compared to MailChimp.
